Dev Update December 2024

DevBlog Update December 2024

It’s been too long since I last posted on the blog, but I’ve got a lot to share.
First off, I want to thank those who’ve supported me, helping me keep my head above water during tough times.

2024 was an incredibly challenging year, not just for me but for many creators and indie developers out there. We saw thousands of layoffs and countless small studios forced to close their doors. Surviving through all this feels almost like a miracle, especially given my shoestring budget where every penny counts. It’s been hard, but I’m doing my best.

Throughout the year, I’ve conducted numerous analyses and gathered lots of data. I’ve experimented, observed trends, and dug into different sources. My post about building a stronger community remains more relevant than ever. I’ve also explored what X (Twitter) could offer and spent perhaps too much time there, but the talk among developers I’ve spoken with is clear: large, impersonal platforms can lead to the erosion of real communities. This dehumanization is a current issue, where everything starts to feel the same, lacking soul.

I’m now refocusing on what matters most, my community and fostering genuine human connections. I’ll be reviving my forum which I’ve neglected for too long, aiming for better visibility and originality. While I’ll keep Discord, I’ll encourage supporters to engage more on the forum, hoping to breathe new life into it.

Development has been tough. I’ve been working on a new release, often having to redo things because they didn’t work right. It’s not easy when you’re doing everything solo.
However, I finally released a test version of KinkyKart, part of The Holestic Adventures. I’m planning a standalone version, and there’s a potential partnership with Nutaku for distribution, which might help increase my income and promote the main project.

I’ve also started a side project on UE5.5, another derivative from Lula, reusing existing assets, themes, and lore. The aim is to produce smaller, simpler games to release quickly on platforms like Nutaku and some other, hopefully generating some income while promoting the larger project, Lula’s Saga: The Holestic Adventures.

It’s a lot of work, both in community building and creative development, with constant uncertainties. Planning is one thing, but adapting to how things evolve is another, which can be exhausting and sometimes even depressing.

Here’s hoping 2025 will be kinder to us all. I wish for everyone, including myself, a bit more financial ease at the end of each month.

That would certainly be a good start, wouldn’t it? 😉
